What is discord?
Discord is an online community meetup place similar to a message board which allows users to send messages, text chat, send photos and video, play games, voice chat, and livestream with each other. ROMY-Con operates on a "server" or small part of Discord that is available by invite only. Discord is available on both computer/web browsers and a mobile application. On June 11, 2027 the ROMY-Con Official Discord Server will be activated to allow ROMY-Nation to unite (or re-unite), network, and discuss our favorites under one digital roof. There will be special content posted in the server for you to view and participate in - including a fanwork contest, a raffle featuring awesome prizes, digital "badge ribbon" collection, games, video panels, and Q & A's by special guests . The server will close for the year 3 days after the last day of the convention (June 23, 2027).
You do not need to join the server to view Artist Alley or the Cosplay Contest. Only the discord chats, interactive content, and interviews.

How event Discord
access is changing for 2027
This year we are making a change to how the event discord is accessed. Instead of individual emails with invite links, on June 11, 2027 the ROMY-Con Discord portal will open via this website url. Please bookmark it and put the date in your calendar so you don't miss the window.
How to use the portal:
As in previous years, in an effort to deter potential problems and promote safe and family-friendly (and safe for work) interactions, attendees must provide their name and a valid email address to access the server, gathered via a short application.
Once attendees successfully submit the completed application agreeing to event terms and rules,* they will be provided with an access code/link to the server directly from the application portal. The link/access code will come up in a dialogue box once your application is processed, and must be used within 24 hours. The portal will remain open for new attendees to join until the last day of the convention.
Announcements will be made on social media (Instagram @romy.con.official, Tumblr romy-con, Bluesky @romy-con.bsky.social) when the application portal is open. Please follow these pages for updates.

*Attendees and entrants are encouraged to behave on the server like they would at a real convention. Those who choose to join the discord must respect common sense rules for public behavior, personal interaction, common courtesy, and respect for private/intellectual property. Harassing or offensive behavior will not be tolerated. Content stealing or sharing of images/art without permission outside of the server is not tolerated. Disrespecting convention celebrity guests (including on official ROMY Con announcements/posts) will not be tolerated. Users who violate these rules may be kicked from the server and not allowed to participate in future events.
